The San Francisco Multi-Specialty Medical Group (SFMMG) provides Full Spectrum care for injured workers who are in the Workers’ Compensation system. Our physicians and staff members represent a number of specialties, allowing us to provide the right care for every injured worker.

SFMMG physicians characterize our practice as Full Spectrum because of the many care options available, which include problem-solving, effective functional restoration evaluation and treatment using state of the art California MTUS (Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule) and ACOEM Guideline evidenced-based-medicine treatment.

These approaches help injured individuals manage their chronic pain and return to an active, functional and satisfying life while assisting the employer or insurance company by providing cost-effective quality medical care.

Treatment Approach
Our treatment approach is called Functional Restoration and is an affiliate of the Bay Area Pain & Wellness Center in Los Gatos, CA. Our intensive process begins with a quality patient evaluation. We then help select the right treatments and medications for that patient, as well as provide extensive education, counseling, and safe physical reconditioning consisting of both exercise and functional activities. Our goal is to change the patient’s thinking, perception, and physical response to pain. Each person receives an individualized care plan or “tool kit” of methods to manage chronic pain and return to a productive lifestyle.

San Francisco Functional Restoration Programs SFFRP
Our programs begin with a quality, multidisciplinary patient evaluation. We then design the right treatments for each patient that include extensive education, counseling, and safe physical reconditioning consisting of both exercise and functional activities. Our goal is to change the patient’s thinking, perception, and physical response to pain. We do not offer a set time frame for the program. It truly is patient specific. We do offer mutually agreed upon goals and outcomes. Over the past 11 years of following patients in the FRP treatment approach, we have discovered patients reach permanent and stationary after four to eight weeks of program participation.

SFFRP consists of group-oriented education and individualized “tool kits”. By combining physical rehabilitation, medication optimization and psycho-educational groups, patients can gain control, avoid passive treatments and return to regular life activities; including work. The program also includes vocational counseling, medical follow up, and education in nutrition and wellness.

Medication Detoxification and Optimization Program
The Opioid Detox Program, located at our Los Gatos affiliate, combines state of the art integrated interdisciplinary pain management services with a medically supervised program to detoxify patients who are dependent on opioid (narcotic) or other medications and are motivated to come off of them.
